MCS MEDICAL UNDERPINS INNOVATION IN SURGERY

Worcestershire-based Judd Medical Ltd supplies specialised surgical products to hospitals throughout Europe. It approached MCS Medical Ltd to produce a refined version of an innovative surgical pin.

Peter Judd, Managing Director at Judd Medical Ltd, comments: "This unique product was developed by a UK surgeon, to retract the bone during hip revision procedures and is an integral part of a kit designed specifically for this purpose. This is one of many products that we supply specifically for this type of surgery, and is now sold extensively to both the NHS and private sectors throughout the UK.

"We chose MCS Medical to supply the pin as they are an established and respected manufacturer in the West Midlands who have the technology, expertise and enthusiasm to produce this exacting type of product."

Warren Gray, Sales Director with MCS Medical explains: "Originally, the pin was manufactured with the head and shaft made from two pieces. Working closely with Judd Medical, we have further refined the design by engineering the pin from a single piece of 316L polished, stainless steel. This makes for a more robust product and also provides for ease of sterilisation."

The surgical pin is now receiving much interest from Europe and Judd Medical Ltd already has a number of overseas sales orders for this innovative product.
